Bob Cruikshanks from Somerset in the UK, As well as putting colour in the sky Bob’s clothes add colour to the ground to brighten the flying field. Bob was a s avionics engineers, who has been flying and making kites for pleasure for over 20 years and has displayed kites as far afield as India, Malaysia, Thailand and in 1912 Dieppe Canada.

Discobolus The Discus Thrower

Discobolus The Discus Thrower, kite made by Bob C for the Dieppe (Can) 2012 festival. The kite competition theme was the Olympics and the kite features a spinning disc. Sculptured by Myron circa 450 BC it is often (as per kite) shown with the head facing the wrong way; ask Bob for more info if req’d.

Silver Lady   Made by Bob in 2010 from an art nouveau design on a Givenchy perfume bottle.  The kite is appliquéd rip-stop and is 2m high.

Warm World   Designed/made by Bob in 2008 for the Mangalore International Festival in India; the festival theme being Global Warming, the kite was awarded 2nd place for its design.  The kite is appliquéd rip-stop nylon.  The kite is 1.6m high by 1m wide.

Doves Designed and made by Karl Longbottom from the UK. Bob flies a pair of customized Doves with reflective wings that are particularly effective at night in spotlights.

Super-Mart

Super-Mart Based on Martin Lester’s Stickman kite. Martin had a similar kite in the style of Batman, which is now owned  by Bob C and Bob asked Martin to make another in the style seen Superman).  The name comes from “Super” (man) and the kite maker “Mart” (in) Lester. The Kite is a favorite with children.

Hypar 3

Hypar 3 The mathematical term for this shape is Hyperbolic Paraboloid – a mouthful, hence Hypar. Designed/made by Martin Lester who likened it to the Cheshire Cat (from Alice in Wonderland) . Also known in the UK as Lester Lips. The red Hypar is 3m wide and the small white Hypar is 1.5m wide

Caped Spirit

Caped Spirit

Caped Spirit Made by Bob in 2007 using Martin Lester’s (UK) Spirit design, Bob has added a shimmering Organza cape. The kite is 6m long. Look out for the Midi White Spirit, which is 13m long.

White Angel

White Angel A large Angel with a wingspan of 2.9m. Influenced by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava it loosely represents his bridge construction.
